Try on Satin Gown Review – Chic Sew Bridesmaid Dresses

When my sister asked me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding, I was incredibly honored and excited, but also nervous about what she was going to ask us to wear. Dress shopping has never been my favourite past time – I always struggled to find a dress that I like at an affordable price. Nevertheless, it had to be done and after looking in a number of different stores and online, I found the answer – Chicsew.com. Take a look at my experience:

Website Design

Now, I have been on several different websites in my search to find the right dress, but Chicsew immediately stood out to me. The webpage was easy to navigate with clear images of the satin bridesmaid dresses from different angles so I could see the real shape of them. I could filter the dresses by a number of different options to narrow down my choices and even managed to find a few discount codes on the website that saved me money!

Dress Prices

One of the first things to grab my attention on the Chicsew website was the prices of the different dress designs which ranged between £79.99 and £139.99. I did have a budget in mind when looking for the dress and was able to use the filter option to narrow the choices down to the dresses within my budget. Additionally, if I wanted some fabric swatches, these came at the cost-efficient price of only £1 – meaning I could order as many as I wanted without it breaking the bank.

The Dresses

Browsing the website I was immediately impressed with the number of bridesmaid dresses that I had to choose from. Having previously visited a number of in-person stores and browsed for hours online, I had never seen this level of choice anywhere else. The website has over 280 styles to choose from with each dress coming in several different shades. My sister had requested that all her bridesmaids be in some pastel shades so I had a good few shades to choose from. I narrowed the shades and styles down to long burnt orange satin bridesmaid dresses, long terracotta satin bridesmaid dresses and emerald green, so decided to choose Chic Sew’s swatch offer to see them in person.

For a small fee, swatches of three shades were sent to me so I could compare them against my skin tone and in different lights. I really appreciated this service as it made me confident when making my final shade choice. I settled on the Emerald Green as it was a slightly brighter shade which looked great in the bright sunlight – perfect for a summer wedding.

For the dress, I had my heart set on a one shoulder design having seen their popularity in countless bridal magazines. I would describe myself as having an hourglass figure, so wanted to choose a gown that pulled in at the waist to highlight my curves. After much deliberation, I found the dress style for me – plus size emerald green satin bridesmaid dresses. I loved the look on the model on the website – the thicker one-sided strap looked like it gave support on the bust and the mermaid gown seemed like a great fit for what I was looking for.

At only £109.99, I was happy with the cost of the dress – especially as this cost included free custom sizing meaning that it would be made to my measurements.

Once I selected custom sizing, a clear and easy to use measuring chart popped up which talked me through how to collect my measurements and enter them into the web page.

The Shipping

After I had chosen my final design, and dress shade and submitted my measurements, it was time to select the shipping method. I knew that this would take some time, as the dress was being made to order, so had factored this in to my time frame. I chose to select the faster delivery option to ensure that it arrived on time (within 20 days) – and it did. I was pleasantly surprised when the parcel arrived at my door not just on time, but a few days early.

Having ordered from other online dress stores previously where the dresses were made to measure, I was really happy with the delivery time frame, as the shipping time was better. These timelines were also better compared to many physical dress shops that I had visited that would have to order a dress in for me.

The Package

The dress came in a secure package and was well protected from any damage during the delivery process. When I opened up the box and wrapping, I instantly saw the sheen of the smooth satin fabric. The quality felt amazing in my hands and I couldn’t wait to try it on. The dress was easy to get on, with a zip up the back to allow the dress to slip over my curves.

When zipped up, it fits like a glove – bonus points for the custom sizing. My chest felt supported with the double-strap over the one shoulder, and my waist was pulled in tightly to accentuate it. The material looked smooth over my curves, giving me a more feminine shape, while the split made it both sexy and easier to walk in.

I honestly cannot fault Chicsew for the quality of their design – the shade was exactly like the swatch I had previously received, and the material felt heavy and expensive. The style matches perfectly with the upmarket venue of the wedding and was extremely flattering on my shape. Due to the custom sizing, it needed no alterations, saving me more money in the long run.

Overall – Is It Worth It?

Absolutely – I couldn’t be happier with my bridesmaid dress choice and I look forward to wearing it on my sister’s special day. The ordering process was super easy and the custom sizing meant that I didn’t really have to worry about pricey alterations.

The quality of the dress is second to none, and most importantly I feel super confident walking down the aisle in it.
