How to Throw a Bridal Shower during Stay at Home Orders

Getting married right now during the coronavirus outbreak can be pretty challenging. Some couples have even decided to postpone their weddings to a later date when everything has settled. They would prefer to host their wedding when people will be able to go out in groups without fear of contracting the disease. However, this does not mean that you should postpone some pre-wedding rituals. You can still use this quarantine time to propose to bridesmaids that the bride deserves a great bridal shower. With the technology that we have today, it is almost a sin not to take advantage of it. You can use the Internet, your laptops, and smartphones to make the bride-to-be feel special and celebrated. If you are planning a bridal shower for your best friend, you just have to be a little creative. Here are some tips:

Request that Guests Send Gifts and Cards

If you have sent out invites to the guests for the bridal shower, inform them about the change of plans. Everyone will understand the situation. You can instead ask them to ship the gifts and/or cards they were going to bring to the shower. While we are in quarantine, delivery services are still up and running, and the bride can still receive gifts. There are online stores where you can buy your gifts from and ship directly to the recipient. Better yet, you can request that everyone send a gift card that the bride can use as it’s less expensive to ship a card with a gift card than a gift.

Set Up an Online Meetup

By now, most are aware of online platforms that allow multiple users to do a conference, such as Zoom, Hangouts, and Messenger. Ask each guest to write a simple message or card that they can read during the online hangout. The bride-to-be can then open gifts and show them to the camera so everyone can share in the joy.

Ask for the Groom’s Participation

If your friend and her partner are in quarantine together, you can contact her partner to surprise the bride with a bride-to-be sash or decorate their home following the theme of the online meetup.

Prepare a Simple Presentation

If you have the time, make the bride feel extra special by preparing a sweet surprise presentation. You can collect all the pictures that you have together and play slides that will make her reminisce fond memories. You can also create a custom filter that would allow guests to take silly photos and videos and post on their social channels.

Host a Virtual Spa Day

Your girlfriends probably have a stash of face masks, eye patches, and nail polish. Have them prepare it for the virtual spa day that you are planning for the bride-to-be. You may be at home, but it doesn’t mean that you cannot have a relaxing day. If you have the budget, you can order a customized spa kit, so everyone participating has the same items for this special day.

Plan a Virtual Karaoke Night

Make sure to plan this on a weekend when people don’t need to get up early the next day! Make sure to have a playlist of different karaoke songs that you and your girlfriends can sing along to. To make this a lot better, you can also have cocktails so you can sing your heart out. You can use YouTube or Smule, so everyone can sing to the same lyrics! Karaoke is a guaranteed way to get everyone to join in on the fun.

Being in quarantine can be extremely limiting because it is something that we are not used to. However, it does not mean that you should also limit the fun of hosting parties, especially for your best friend. You can still make her feel special even if you are away from each other. You can reserve the live party for when this is all over.
