10 Tips For Healthy Hair For Your Wedding

long hair, hair growth

1. Eat Omega-3 Fatty Acids

These can be found in oily fish and nuts and will not only nourish hair follicles and promote growth, but also add some more elasticity to the hair so it snaps less easily.

2. Zinc

Zinc promotes rapid tissue repair so will keep your scalp healthy and allow your hair to grow. It also helps to regulate the hormone associated with hair growth! You can take it in a supplement or eat it in things such as red meat and chickpeas.

3. Eat Protein!

Protein is what your hair is actually made of, so making sure you eat enough of the stuff is a good start! Meat, lentils and beans are all good sources of protein. It will also help slow the process of turning grey - hurray!

4. Drink Water

Aim for 2 litres a day if you don't already. It will keep your skin healthy and your scalp hydrated, the perfect condition for growing hair.

5. Avoid Hot Water

Having the shower too hot can damage your hair and make it susceptible to breakages. Try and wash in cooler water, and blast it with cold right at the end for real shine!

6. Have Regular Trims

We know it's tempting to skip a trim if you're trying to grow your hair, but when you have split ends they need to be chopped off to avoid the damage creeping further up the hair. Aim for once every 6-8 weeks.

7. Iron

Iron is well known for helping to prevent hair loss, so make sure you get enough through things like seeds, nuts, meat, spinach and dark chocolate (yessss!).

8. Oil Masks

Once a week treat your hair to a hydrating oil mask. Castor Oil, Coconut Oil and Vitamin E Oil are all great choices for strengthening your hair fibres.

9. Brush Gently

It may sound obvious but vigarous hair brushing will lead to broken and damaged hair. Invest in a natural bristled brush, or a tangle teaser, and always spray damp hair with leave in conditioner before brushing.

10. Go Au Naturel

If you can bear to leave your hair completely natural (no hairdrying, straightening or curling!) for a month or so you'll start to see some great results. Do this alongside all the tips above and you'll have strong, shiny, healthy hair for your wedding.
