Set within 12 acres of luscious landscaped gardens, the Grade I listed Rothamsted Manor is a characterful venue, filled with elegance and charm. Built back in 1623, it is an exclusive use wedding venue that can host up to 55 guests for a ceremony and up to 80 for a reception. Their Oak Panelled Library, with beautiful fireplaces and views over the garden is perfect for your ceremony, followed by a reception in The Hall. Additionally, their Lounge can be set up for a smaller ceremony or reception, or as a quiet room for guests throughout the wedding day.
2. The Fox and Hounds
A quaint country pub and restaurant with a range of indoor and outdoor spaces to choose from, The Fox and Hound can host up to 45 guests in a private dining room, or up to 100 with full venue hire. Celebrate in one of their restaurant spaces with high ceilings, large windows, lovely interiors and views of the well maintained gardens.
Set within 35 acres of greenery, West Lodge Park is an elegant hotel that combines both classic and contemporary interior styles. With plenty of ornate event spaces, they have an outdoor garden pavilion to say your vows and a plush suite with eye catching chandeliers and vintage paintings that is perfect for a reception. You can also put up a marquee in their grounds, and plenty of guests can stay across their 59 guest bedrooms.
4. The Barn at Alswick
A 16th century barn located on the Alswick Hall Estate, this pretty wedding venue is licensed to host both civil ceremonies and receptions and will be exclusively yours for the weekend. Featuring a flexible barn and courtyard space along with a spacious dressing room for getting ready in, it feels like a wonderfully relaxed venue for a wedding. Guests are also able to glamp in their private gardens with ancient trees and a wild meadow, the perfect spot to wake up to the morning after the wedding.
A restored country farmhouse located within 20 acres of landscaped grounds and gardens, South Farm is a pretty quintessentially English spot to get married. Surrounded by a selection of converted barns, granaries and stables, there are ample locations to choose from for your wedding day, including a lovely Summer House that makes for a charming outdoor ceremony spot.
Filled with lots of history, romantic Ashridge House was once home to King Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and Prince Edward. Featuring plenty of Gothic and Italian architecture such as original chandeliers, marble fireplaces and gold leaf adorned ceilings, the venue has interlocking rooms creating a lovely seamless flow. Get ready and relaxed before the wedding in one of their heritage rooms, followed by a ceremony in one of their gorgeous garden settings, such as the Italian Gardens and South Terrace, or their Rose and Herb gardens. Receptions can be either held inside one of their many function rooms, or outside in a marquee. The venue also has an impressive 190 bedrooms, so there’s plenty of room for all your guests to stay.
7. Sandon Manor
Set amongst the rolling Hertfordshire countryside, Sandon Manor is an exclusive and chic wedding venue just one hour outside of London. Located in one of the largest nature reserves in the county, it is an environmentally sustainable wedding venue, with an abundance of grounds, and ornamental gardens. The owners have converted the property’s historic barns to create spaces specifically designed for weddings of up to 150 guests, with more intimate weddings of up to 18 taking place in the manor itself. For those, you can say your vows in front of the pretty staircase, celebrate with bubbles on the front lawn followed by a feast in the historic dining room.

A lovely 18th century country pub and one of the oldest in Hertfordshire, The Waterside Venue is a charming spot for a small wedding. Licensed for civil ceremonies, you can celebrate with up to 100 guests in their indoor and outdoor spaces, including their elegant Oak Room and Willow Grove inside, or a marquee on the lawns outside.
