Use this Timeless Advice to help you understand the different wordings you can have for your wedding invitations.


Divorced parents the as host:



Mr Michael Smith and Mrs Jane Smith request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their daughter...


Widowed parent as host:



Mrs Michael Smith requests the pleasure of your company at the marriage of her daughter


Reception only invitation:



Mr and Mrs Michael Smith request the pleasure of your company at an evening reception to follow the marriage of their daughter Kathleen with Mr Paul Brown at the Seymour Manor, James Road, Easton at 7.30p.m...


Divorced mother who has not been remarried as the host:



Mrs Jane Smith requests the pleasure of your company at the marriage of her daughter...


Double weddings:



If daughters of the same couple, the elder is mentioned first. If the brides are not related, it is the elder groom and his bride who are mentioned first...


Second marriage:



Mr and Mrs Michael Smith request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their daughter Kathleen Thomas to Mr Paul Brown...


Remarried father as the host:



Mr and Mrs Michael Smith request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of his daughter...


Remarried mother as the host:



Mr and Mrs Anthony Turner request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of her daughter...


Bride’s uncle and aunt as hosts:



Mr and Mrs George Allen request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their niece...


Bridal couple as the hosts:
