Stag Party Playlists
If is there was one thing that all good weekends, parties, events, and gatherings require, it’s a decent soundtrack. A stag party is no different, in fact you probably need a playlist for your stag more than anything else. The weekend will be full of ups and downs, and you’ll need certain songs to get your through the weekend at certain points; enter my Stag Party Playlist. Designed to get everyone in the mood for a party, this playlist features so that you’ll want to listen to when you’re preparing to hit the town, and then some you might hear while you’re out in the pubs and clubs (or you could request them), and finally one song that will describe your feelings once you’ve survived the weekend and made it home. Let’s do this:
The Final Countdown – Europe
Like most of the songs on this playlist, this one works on more than one level. You’ve got the title of the song, which is appropriate for the stag, and it has the instantly recognisable ‘Da-na-na-nah-nah-da-nah-na-na-nah’ keyboard riff that everyone always sings. It’s just a great song to get you in the mood for a party: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jK-NcRmVcw
House of Fun – Madness
This song is quite appropriate if you happen to be renting a big house or apartment for the weekend, although I suppose you could apply it to a hotel. Whatever your living arrangements for the weekend, you’ll find it hard to not be dancing around the room like a loon by the time this song hits the first chorus!
Fight for Your Right – Beastie Boys
Now the Beastie Boys did the hard work for us by fighting for our right to party way back in the 80s. I think it’s fair to say that we’ve all taken advantage of this by partying for most of our lives, so the song goes into the playlist. You also have to remember that it is incredibly hard not to break out into the “YOU GOTTA FIGHT…DAH NAH…FOR YOUR RIGHT…TO PARRRRRRRRTY!” bit when you’ve had a few jars.
Eye of the Tiger – Survivor
Now this is probably down to this song being used in Rocky, and that would explain why I always feel like I should be putting together some form of montage to view whenever I hear this. I’d say this song needs to be aired when everyone is getting ready for an evening out. It never fails to get everyone in the right kind of mood.
The Boys are Back in Town – Thin Lizzy
Now, in my head this song plays every time I step into a pub, bar, or club with my friends, and it should for you too. If you have listened to this song before and never played a little bit of air guitar then I don’t know what else I could add to this playlist to get your moving. A stone cold classic and one that’ll put a smile on your face if you hear it when you’re out and about. Trust me, you’ll be giving the lads a sly wink as soon as those first guitar chords ring out across the establishment you’re in at the time.
Party Hard – Andrew W.K.
If you had to condense a stag do or lads weekend down into one song, its very essence could be this classic track. I never liked this when it was first released, but now I see just how much of a great song it really is! Put simply, you will want to party hard on the stag, so it makes sense to pop this into the mix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WccfbPQNMbg
Girls, Girls, Girls – Motley Crue
Now, I’m not saying this song will mirror the kind of night you’ll have, however it is one of my favourite Crue songs. I did struggle to choose between this and Kickstart my Heart, but Girls, Girls, Girls ran out a winner by a (Tommy Lee) length, so by quite a bit in the end.
Breaking the Law – Judas Priest
If the last song isn’t supposed to be taken literally then this one definitely isn’t supposed to be! You can’t deny a great tune though, and who knows, maybe you’ll end up signing this as you’re carrying a traffic cone up the street at 5am (again, you definitely shouldn’t be taking this song and its’ title literally).
Rock and Roll all Nite – KISS
Another classic that is right at home in this playlist, you know you can always count on KISS for a solid tune. However, after listening to the lyrics I’m left wondering when we’d have any time to do anything else if we really did rock and roll all night, and then party every day. Mind you I never really agreed with Wizzard wishing it could be Christmas every day…
You’re the Voice – John Farnham
Now we’re heading straight into singalong territory with these next three tracks. I’ve always been fond of a 80s power ballad, and this one from John Farnham is right up there. It’s one of those that you’ve already heard and know, without knowing who it actually was. Listen and learn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbkOZTSvrHs
The King of Wishful Thinking – Go West
I know what you’re thinking; ‘this guys really likes Pretty Woman’. Nope. It was a cover version of this song by a punk band called New Found Glory that really developed my love for this song. So now you know. It is a cracking song though, and it ticks that big old ‘great for a singalong’ box that each and every tune on this playlist requires.
(I Just) Died in Your Arms – Cutting Crew
Yet again, another power ballad that is in here purely for the singalong value (and it is also just a great song). I don’t know why but when I imagine a group of stags singing along to this on a weekend I see them almost serenading each other with this. If this sounds like you be sure to get video evidence and send it over to me.
Block Rockin’ Beats – The Chemical Brothers
Here is a more upbeat number, and one that would be great to get everyone up on the dance floor to cut a few shapes. I see this as an end of night song, that one last chance to enjoy yourself before the house lights come up and everyone is being herded to the exits.
Blue Monday – New Order
This is a bonus song for your Monday morning when you’re trudging back to work and back into the grind of your working life. The title is a perfect representation of how you’ll feel once that stag party high has worn off. Like the sound of this playlist?
