8 Intimate Wedding Venues in Surrey

With more and more couples choosing to have low key weddings with just their very nearest and dearest, the desire for wedding venues that feel tailor-made for smaller weddings is really on the rise. With potentially more budget to spend due to less guests, couples are often after unique and special venues that really tick the boxes in terms of style, atmosphere and great food. 

Below we’ve collected up 8 of our favourites in the county of Surrey, a great spot for a wedding not far from London, to help get you inspired. 

1. Worplesdon Place 

Worplesdon Place

A 19th century manor house set within two acres of landscaped gardens and overlooking a swan lake, Worplesdon Place is a lovely pub wedding venue near Guildford. Filled with character, charm and contemporary interiors, they have several event spaces for you to choose from. A particular favourite is the Baxendale Suite which is filled with natural light and lots of original features.

2. The Princess Royal 

The Princess Royal

A bar, pub and restaurant wedding venue tucked away within the market town of Farnham, The Princess Royal was originally built in 1926 on a former Mesolithic site. For more intimate weddings, their Parlour End room is great for up to 30 guests, or for slightly larger weddings their Waverley Room is recommended. With classic decor, chandeliers and vaulted ceilings, it can host up to 50 guests. The venue is able to do both seated and buffet meal options and has a lovely patio for your outdoor drinks reception. 

3. The Petersham Hotel

Overlooking a picturesque section of the River Thames and the nearby landscape of South West London, The 4* Petersham Hotel in Richmond specialises in smaller, more exclusive weddings. They are able to host 40 guests for a ceremony, with a breakfast for up to 60 guests in their elegant reception room. The hotel is also home to 58 bedrooms including a stunning penthouse suite that will be yours for the night.

4. The Green Escape

Made up of 6 acres of magical woodlands, The Green Escape is a glamping site that is perfect for small, rustic weddings. Host your ceremony outside with 30 guest sat on rustic benches alongside a 100m pine tree lined aisle, or indoors in their eco lodge The Bales, complete with large windows and French doors looking out onto the forest. Follow this up with dinner al fresco at this no corkage wedding venue, with plenty of space for your guests to stay after, either camping or within one of their 7 glamping shepherd’s huts. 

5. Smallfield Place

Created to host intimate, sophisticated yet relaxed weddings, Smallfield place is a pretty Jacobean manor house with formal gardens that can be exclusively yours for the weekend. It is civil ceremony licensed and can host weddings for up to 60 guests, with the venue only hosting a limited number of weddings per year. They also have luxury accommodation on site for you and your guests to enjoy. 

6. The Talbot Inn

A hidden gem in Ripley, The Talbot Inn is an elegant wedding venue filled with charm and character. Surrounded by fields, woodlands and terraced grounds, you can get married in their rustic chic barn with twinkling fairy lights and original beams, or have a relaxed outdoor festival wedding there. They can host up to 80 for a ceremony and up to 150 for an evening reception and they have 43 bedrooms available too.

A relaxed and romantic wedding venue, The Old Rectory Estate consists of stunning grounds and a beautiful main house, and the property will be exclusively yours for the duration of your wedding. Perfect for a marquee wedding, its home to 8 acres of outdoor space, including an Italian style garden that features water fountains, sculptures and manicured blooms.

A 13th century historic wedding venue, The Spread Eagle Hotel and Spa is located within the medieval market town of Midhurst. Featuring all the beauty and charm you can expect from a quaint small town spot, you can get married in their stone walled Jacobean Hall surrounded by heraldic banners, followed by a marquee reception in their grounds.
