5 Hidden Wedding Venues in London We Bet You Didn’t Know

The capital city is home to many a renowned wedding venue, from chic townhouse hotels to sprawling country houses in the suburbs, but there are still many hidden gems to be found. Tucked away both in the centre of London and in the more rural parts, we’ve listed below 5 of our current favourites…

Raven’s Ait Island, Kingston 

Spanning two acres, Raven’s Ait Island is nestled on the river in Kingston Upon Thames and you’d hardly know if was there if you weren’t told. A great blank canvas venue with gorgeous waterfront views, the on site marquee is the biggest space on the island but there are also suites within the main building available if you’re planning a more intimate wedding.

2. The Barbican

As one of the most unusual wedding venues within London, tucked away within the Barbican’s iconic brutalist architecture is a lush tropical oasis that is home to exotic fish and 1,800 species of tropical plants. The venue is licensed so you’re able to host both your ceremony and reception there, with a garden room that can seat up to 220 guests with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. Plus you can treat your guests to a delicious meal from their well regarded in-house caterers Searcy’s.

3. Wilton’s Music Hall

A show stopping alternative wedding venue, you are able to hire the whole building at Wilton’s Music Hall, including their iconic auditorium and front of house spaces. Voted ‘Best Historic Wedding Venue’ at the UK Wedding Awards, this grade II listed music hall is filled with memories and would have been previously visited by many a sailor, toff or lady. They have only a select number of dates available per year, so be sure to enquire soon if you fancy it for your wedding.

4. Greenhaus at People’s Park Tavern 

Located on the leafy borders of Victoria Park in Hackney, Greenhaus at People’s Park Tavern is a true hidden gem. With the pub featuring lovely high ceilings, large sash windows and a micro brewery, it’s ‘pièce de résistance’ is it’s beautiful Greenhaus out the back. A large clear span heated marquee in the garden featuring lots of twinkly lights, it can host up to 180 standing and 120 seated. There is also a private kitchen available at your disposable so you can bring your own caterers or use theirs. Plus with it being a brewery, you can even brew your own beer especially for your day, with a personalised beer badge attached to it. Available from Mid October to March.

5. The Bulls Head, Richmond 

Located right on the River Thames, The Bulls Head is a stylish and versatile space that is perfect for intimate celebrations of 10 - 80. You’ll have the whole first floor space above the pub to yourself and you can party the night away until 1am. Throw the floor to ceiling windows wide and enjoy the turning of day to night over the River Thames.
