Sarah & Jon's Highgate House Woodland Wedding
Set within miles of rolling countryside hills just outside Northampton, Sarah and Jon chose to hold their woodland inspired wedding in the stunning Highgate House. The fabulous venue meant that everything could be done in the same place with ceremony and reception rooms along with a whooping 97 bedrooms for their guests to cosy up in and nurse their sore heads the next morning! Chatting to the bride Sarah, she was so delighted with the whole day, explaining "our wedding day was everything we dreamed it would be and more. We may not have been spring chickens but we felt on cloud nine at Highgate House. In a stunning location surrounded by our nearest and dearest it was quite simply the best day of our lives and the memories will be cherished forever."
After a romantic proposal at the top of the Skiddaw mountain in the Lake District, the wedding planning got into full swing with the couple opting for a woodland inspired theme. They decided on green bridesmaid dresses and green cravats for the men, along with trees in the Baronial Hall which they then moved to the reception room for the evening. Dotted along the tables they had tree trunk tealight holders alongside silk and wooden leaves with the wedding date engraved onto them as a lovely personal touch. To finish off the look, they had their floral displays and bouquets made using wild flowers and herbs along with a wooden leaf guestbook and a simple cake decorated with sugar work leaves.
Through it's old-school beauty and gorgeous country interiors, it's easy to see why the couple chose to go for Highgate House. With it being within close proximity of their home where most of their guests would be travelling from, Sarah and Jon fell for the lovely mix of old and new buildings, in particular the Baronial Hall. The cherry on top for them was the lovely atmosphere of the place created by the staff, feeling instantly welcome right from their first visit.
When asked what their favourite and most memorable parts of the day were, Sarah said 'walking down the stairs having stayed at Highgate overnight and then into the Baronial Hall was just wonderful. The whole day was amazing with the staff ensuring everything ran smoothly".
Of course one of the most important elements of the wedding day, the one which allows you to cherrish all those memories for years come, is the photography. Sarah and Jon were lucky enough to have their day captured by the exceptionally talented Lee Glasgow. We love his use of light and attention to detail. Here's what Sarah had to say about him:
"Our photographer, Lee Glasgow, captured a real sense of our day and worked seamlessly to photograph moments that would otherwise have gone unnnoticed. He did this in his own unique way with wit and charisma and charmed both young and old."
So after their lovely wedding, what would be the couple's words of advice to any future couples?
"Stick to your budget. It's easy to get carried away and you don't want to have money worries shadowing your special day. Also, take the advice of the wedding planner as they have the experience, and get acquainted with Pinterest!"
