Rick & Jo's Sunny Devon Wedding At Rockbeare Manor
Jo & Rick's wedding is the kind of wedding we'd like to be invited to. From the sunny outdoor ceremony, to space hoppers on the lawn, every part of their special day was so clearly full of laughter, smiles and love.
The wedding was at the glorious Rockbeare Manor, set in 100 acres of beautiful parkland just 7 miles from Exeter. From the striking white pillars around the entrance, to the sweeping staircase leading to your very own bridal drawing room, this is truly a show stopping venue.

"We were blown away by Rockbeare Manor when we visited, it is beautiful. Even though it was in early stages of refurbishment it was everything we were after – we had hoped to find a venue where we could have the ceremony as well…we were even happier to find out we could have the ceremony outside."
Jo on finding the dress:
"My dress was from Essence of Australia, a beautiful lace design. I thought I knew the style of dress I wanted before trying anything on but completely changed my mind, so it wasn’t as I imagined, it was better! I must of tried on around 30 dresses before finding this one (this was the 4th shop I went to) but when I saw this one in the window I knew it was the one for me." "I came across the idea of having the bridesmaids in blue, so they are your “something blue” in the early stages of planning and fell in love with idea so carried that through to the men’s suits and flowers. My bridesmaids all wore light blue dresses in different styles, the groom wore a tailor-made suit and the groomsmen wore blue French Connection suits.
I choose mainly blue flowers with peach accents to work with the bridesmaids and my dress (it was alabaster rather than ivory)."
"I felt really excited and quite nervous in the morning, couldn’t eat breakfast. Walking down the aisle felt amazing, just to know that the day was really here. People had told me to look around and take it all in, I tried to but was trying to concentrate on not tripping. The ceremony was perfect, we had chosen to say our own vows and have a couple of readings which made it even more personal."
And finally, Jo's top tip for other brides...
"Don’t forget about you in the planning, take some time to pamper yourself before your big day. And do take time to look around and take in the day…we had a 12 o’clock ceremony and thought we would have “spare” time during the day but it flew by."
"As we had the ceremony and reception in the same location we were able to start greeting guests and having some photos. Rockbeare is such a lovely setting for photos, we were spoilt for choice as to which spots to choose. The food was amazing, we had been for a tasting session and chosen our dishes – it was even better than I had remembered."
