Home to charming countryside, towns and villages that inspired movies such as Four Weddings and Funeral and The Holiday, the county of Surrey feels quintessentially English. With over one quarter of the county being the rolling countryside of the Surrey Hills, you’re almost guaranteed to get spectacular views from your wedding venue. Plus whilst feeling like you’re in the middle of nowhere, its a county very close to London, meaning its easy for guests to travel there from all over the UK.

1. Pennyhill Park

Featuring 19th century architecture, beautiful gardens and immaculate lawns, Pennyhill Park has plenty of charming spaces both inside and out to host your wedding day. With space for up to 120 guests, you can host your ceremony in their Library complete with vintage fireplaces, large windows and views of the grounds, or on their Terrace Pavilion if you fancy an outdoor wedding. Celebrate your union within their newly refurbished Parkview Suite, a light filled space with a lovely balcony and pretty chandeliers. 

2. Langshott Manor

Bringing the privacy and comfort of a stately home, Langshott Manor is tucked away within the leafy suburbs of Surrey and is a boutique hotel built way back in 1580. Home to many an intimate and lavish bash in its time, you can hire the venue exclusively or do a half house hire, depending on the size of your wedding. Host your ceremony in the garden by their licensed Gazebo, followed by a reception in their Mulberry Room with up to 70 guests. The venue also has 22 bedrooms available. 

3. Addington Palace

Set within 163 acres of rolling Surrey hills, Addington Palace is a grand and opulent Grade II listed mansion filled with lots of beautiful spaces. Archbishops have lived there, Kings and Queens have dined there and Hollywood actors have filmed there, so it’s fair to say its filled with lots of fabulous history. The venue can host up to 150 guests for the ceremony and reception, along with 16 bedrooms within the main house for them to stay in too. 

4. West Horsley Place

West Horsley Place

A timelessly elegant Grade I listed manor house nestled away in the countryside, yet still close to London, West Horsley Place is a quintessentially English wedding venue. The venue itself dates back to 1425, with a charming facade later being added in the 17th century. Since then the estate has been lovingly restored and is now reopened to the public for the first time in its 1000 year history. The venue is exclusive use, with space for both a marquee outside in their walled garden, or within their reception rooms inside. Choose from the large, grand Stone Hall for larger weddings or their intimate and warm library for smaller weddings. The venue can host up to 140 guests. 

5. Botley’s Mansion

With a mysterious royal past, this stunning Palladian house has all the classic features of a grand country home. Approached via a long leafy driveway, your guests will be led up a lovely stone staircase to the main reception hall space. The venue can host weddings of up to 288 guests, with ceremonies in their Green Room, a romantic and intimate space featuring pastel tones and golden chandeliers, followed by a reception on their glass roofed Atrium. The venue also has 11 elegant bedrooms for your guests to stay in. 

6. Bingham Riverhouse 

Bingham Riverhouse

A lovely spot in Richmond upon Thames, Bingham Riverside is surrounded by lush lawns and gardens, whilst also being right on the river. Celebrate with up to 90 guests in their Garden Room and on its patio area complete with landscaped hedgerows and plants. When hiring the venue, you’ll get exclusive use of their Drawing Room, Parlour, Library, Garden Rooms, Garden and 15 overnight bedrooms. 

7. Beaverbrook

With a glamorous and decadent past, Beaverbrook is a luxury, quintessentially English country manor house. Hidden away within 470 acres of manicured gardens and grounds, the hotel features elegant and sumptuous interiors and will be exclusively yours for the wedding day. Suitable for both relaxed weddings and more glamorous, they can host up to 120 guests in a marquee in the grounds, or up to 70 within the house.

Featuring lots of charming Elizabethan architecture and original features, this heritage Grade I listed wedding venue is designated as a Scheduled Historical Monument. Surrounded by 50 acres of stunning formal gardens that include a Japanese bridge, a lake, fountains and a Saxon moat, they can host up to 180 guests within their venue. There is also plenty of room for your guests to stay, with 56 bedrooms available. 

9. The Mitre Hotel

Teaming a beautiful riverside wedding venue with a hotel that simply has the coolest, whimsical yet elegant interiors, The Mitre in Hampton Court is a tough one to beat when it comes to intimate wedding spots in London. Steeped in history and character and located right next to Hampton Court Palace, you can host up to 70 of your guests in their Orangery, with the ability to have a further 50 join for the evening party. For the ultimate in luxury, why not arrive by boat to their private mooring and host all your guests within the sumptuous accommodation they have to offer.

Set in the heart of the Surrey Hills with views of Box Hill and the pretty North Downs, Denbies is the largest vineyard in England, with 265 acres to its name. They can host licensed ceremonies within their Canmore Suite, the Hotel Restaurant, the Garden Room or in the Denbie’s Suite for up to 180 guests. For the reception, you can choose from their Conservatory Atrium, Vineyard Hotel, Gallery Restaurant or their atmospheric cellar. With it being a vineyard, we recommend making the most of their bespoke wine tasting sessions before the reception drinks, to bring something a little different to your wedding.
