Set in the heart of the quaint Somerset town of Axbridge, welcome to The Oakhouse Hotel. Nestled next to the Cheddar Reservoir and on the doorstep of the Mendip Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Oakhouse hotel makes for a wonderful venue for you to celebrate your wedding day.

The charming Oakhouse Hotel offers a unique wedding ceremony and reception experience. Licensed for civil ceremonies, with a capacity of 120 guests for your evening reception, we really can take care of your entire day here at the hotel. If your preference is a church wedding, the stunning St. Johns the Baptist Church sits right next door!

From our team of highly skilled chef’s and genuine hospitable front of house team, the Oakhouse provides the perfectly comfortable and cosy experience for you and your guests.

As an exclusive use venue, our hotel and 10 beautifully appointed bedrooms become exclusively yours for the duration of your wedding day. Enjoy the benefits of your very own private house for your celebrations. You can also continue the festivities into the morning with a private breakfast with your staying guests on site. Your exclusive hire runs from 11am on your wedding day, until 11am the following day.

We are exceptionally pleased to offer picturesque private grounds and gardens which are perfect for drinks receptions and photographs in the warmer months, including marquee receptions. Why not break up your day with a marquee wedding breakfast and then a cosy, relaxed evening reception throughout the hotel once the sun goes down.

Thank you so much for your email.

We had an absolute ball and the most perfect day.

The staff at the Oakhouse were 5*, fantastic, so warm and welcoming. You could tell they were passionate and loved their jobs. All of our guests have commented on the service from Marina, Dave and the team. They have genuinely made a an excellent long lasting impression.

Also, you must appload the staff for their consideration of all our dietary requirements, we have never been anyway where they have been so on it with them. It just took one stress off of our hands.

Of course, we will share the photos with you. If you want us to write a review or any more feedback please let us know. We're more than happy to promote and help The Oakhouse in anyway.

Hi Bri,

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to you, and the incredible team at the Oakhouse. Our wedding was beyond perfect, everything we could of hoped for and so much more. The staff, especially Nisha were outstanding. All our guests commented on how amazingly well they looked after us all. The food Kelly made was just out of this world, and Nisha literally didn’t stop all night long. She made sure we were so well looked after and she really did make our wedding for us. We cannot thank her enough. Please pass our thanks on to the whole team, and if possible could you let us know some dates Nisha will be at work as we would like to have some flowers delivered to her as a surprise.

Let me know if you would like some photos of the day to use, and if possible could you send us the ones that were put on your Instagram page. It would be lovely to have some of the venue and food etc.

We are both really well and hope you are too. Mark and I have been trying to put together a review we can post everywhere but struggled to fit it into a few lines.

I don't even know where to begin with my feedback (in a good way I promise) regarding our amazing day! Although I'm generally a very laid back/stress free person, I won't lie in saying that I was a little anxious in the lead up to the day. However when I met Nisha and Kelley Friday evening I instantly knew it was going to be okay and that we were going to be well looked after. The girls, my sisters, my Mum, my Grandma, and me all had the lushest evening with lovely food and brilliant service from Nisha and Kelley. We all went to bed feel happy and ready for the day ahead.

Our big day couldn't have been more perfect! We loved the breakfast in the room - it was the perfect start to the day! I was able to fully relax that morning knowing that the capable hands of Nisha and Kelley were sorting everything out for us. I want to also say a special thank you to Melanie for rushing back from her holiday to be there on our special day! One of my lovely memories of the day is seeing everyones smiling and encouraging faces just before I walked down the isle.

Throughout the day, myself, Mark, and all of our guests were well and truly looked after! Nisha and Kelley are a huge credit to the Oakhouse and I can't thank them enough for their part in the day. Also a big thank you to Melanie's step-son for showing us some great outside areas for photos. He was super lovely and even guarded my bouquet while I insisted on going on the swings!

The venue was decorated perfectly to exactly how we imagined it and we couldn't have asked for anything more. All of our guests commented how lovely the venue was and how great the staff had been throughout the day. The Oakhouse will always be special to us and we can't wait to come back in the future! Especially for more food! The food throughout the day was incredible, I loved pudding and Mark loved his pork belly!

We've had a sneak peak of our photos but they don't really have any of the venue with. I've attached a few of my favourites anyway! Once we have more through I will absolutely share them with you and I'm happy for you to share any existing photos you have.

As a summary, everything couldn't have been more perfect for us and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better wedding day. A big big BIG thank you to everyone the has been involved in our wedding. And thank you Bri for dealing with my annoying emails, irritating questions, and for generally being amazing throughout the entire process. There isn't one person throughout it all that hasn't been lovely!

Words will never justify how incredible this venue and staff are! We have had so many of our guests get in contact to say they had never been to a wedding with such kind, warm and friendly staff. From start to finish nothing was ever too much- even when we moved the wedding by a week due to Covid concerns they accommodated every single detail. We won’t ever forget our day and this is largely down to the staff and the most festive and cosiest of venues- they felt more like family by the time we reluctantly had to leave them! I am SO glad we chose this place for our wedding and the memories are truly special. From Bri calming my nerves due to Covid panics in the run ups to Dave, Marina and the girls entertaining my children! If you are planning a wedding- there can never be any better venue!

From start to finish the entire Oakhouse team were exceptional. The entire planning process was made so easy by the lovely Bri, nothing was too much and she had so many amazing suggestions. Our emails were responded to very quickly, meaning that we didn't get stressed.
The chef created a menu based on our very specific ideas, and everyone complemented the food on the day. The service team are amazing. The Oakhouse truly felt like a home away from home. The fact that you can choose everything yourself and you're not limited to set packages means that our wedding had so many special details. The venue itself is beautiful, and has so many areas suitable for different activities. We were able to cater for all our guests because of this. I would 100% recommend the Oakhouse to anyone looking for a beautiful, cosy, fun and personalised wedding experience.

We booked this venue last minute as our original wedding was cancelled in Cyprus due to the covid restrictions. Words cannot describe how amazing this venue and the people that run it are. It is a perfect venue for a small wedding, the hosts were more than accommodating for any requests and made our day for sure.

We had the perfect day at The Oakhouse, the hotel is beautiful and the gardens are absolutely breath-taking, our guests were speechless.
