Niamh & Bryan's Relaxed Petersham Nurseries Wedding
For a wedding that is elegant, dainty and refined, Petersham Nurseries in Richmond makes for the perfect countryside style location that is still in the suburbs of London. With pretty glasshouses and stunning elements of nature all around, we can't think of a better place to host an intimate candlit wedding reception. The photographer Helen Abraham, who captured Niamh and Bryan's gorgeous wedding day photographs, already had a special place in her heart for Petersham nurseries so she was expectedly over the moon when she received a phone call from the bride asking her to photograph their wedding there. We are obsessed with the thoughtful intimacy of this wedding and it really strikes us as one really big, beautiful family gathering with long communal tables dotted with delicate arrangements, candles and lots of laughter.
The Outfit
The day began at the charming Connaught Hotel in the heart of Mayfair where the bride Niamh and her family prepared for the big day. The bride, Niamh wore a gorgeously modern mid-length dress with pale pink lace Manolo Blahnik flats that perfectly finished off the low key look. She wore her hair in a chignon bun with drop pearl earrings to keep things looking classic. We particularly loved the bride's fluffy white cardigan that was on hand for when things got chilly. To go with the overall look, Niamh opted for a bridal bouquet in tones of white and pale pink with roses and ranunculus along with zingy green foliage.
The Ceremony
The bridal party then moved onto the Mayfair Library where the ceremony was being held. Situated on the first floor of the historic building, the ceremony room made a stunning venue for an intimate and romantic wedding and suited Niamh and Bryan to a tee. We loved the brightness of this venue with light streamed in through the large windows teamed with the dark green and wooden tones of the bookshelves, chairs and doors - it truly felt like a timeless and classic choice for a wedding ceremony. Outside the main library entrance, guests tossed dried petals as confetti and celebrated the new husband and wife.
The Reception
After canapes and champagne back at The Connaught Hotel, the party moved onto the beautiful Petersham Nurseries in Richmond. With it being an Autumn wedding, the ambience and cosiness of the venue was just perfect for a small and intimate wedding. Following a champagne reception by candlelight and a string quartet in Glasshouse 2, everyone commenced into the main glasshouse for a sumptuous four course meal and celebrations.
The glasshouse was dreamily decorated with garlands of foliage, fairy lights and long communal tables that looked truly romantic when darkness set in. Running down the lengths of the tables were white floral arrangements by Petersham Nurseries that consisted of dahlias, brasicas, roses and pine foliage in low grey urns. Dotted in between these were striking antique candleabras, scatters of rusty red autumnal leaves and munchkin pumpkins. Each place setting had intricately calligraphed place cards and a sprig of Rosemary tied off with string.
The whole day looked like a truly memorable affair and the photographs by candlelight are simply stunning. Petersham Nurseries in all it's natural beauty made for the most ideal backdrop, with the on site wedding team delivering to such a high standard to ensure the whole feel was just so. We really feel this wedding celebrates the most important things around this big milestone - the celebration of love, family and friends in a relaxed and beautiful setting where you can really relax and enjoy the day.
