The Summary: This place is a hidden gem and we feel so happy that we found it! Great value, beautiful setting, cool vibe, AMAZING food, wine & cocktails and hands down some of the most enthusiastic, fun and professional staff / service ever. THANK YOU to all of the team at the Singer Tavern for giving us the best wedding celebration we could have wished for. Our guests are still raving about you!!
The longer version:
We had our wedding reception/party at the Singer Tavern and 5cc Cocktail Bar last Saturday. It was everything we could have wished for, and more. Absolutely amazing. All of our guests were raving about the venue, the food, the service, the fun and professional staff, the cocktails and drinks.... There was a never-ending stream of compliments!
Food - The food was beautiful. We took the higher end menu (which was really great value) and LOVED the food at the tasting, but had a niggling doubt about how the quality would translate when cooked for 90+ people. Well, we needn't have worried. The food on the night was beautiful. Most of our friends are foodies with high standards and they were ALL raving about the food (saying it was the "best wedding food they've ever had"), and rightly so. Hats off to Craig the head chef and his team. We enjoyed every bite.
Worth noting as well that we had 17 guests with different combinations of dietary requirements (including some gluten+lactose free, some fish/shellfish allergies, allergies to various herbs... the list goes on!) and they were all accommodated with equally beautiful food. A special thanks for that!
Service/staff: The staff were brilliant, right from the moment we first visited the venue, through the organisational stages and on the day itself. They accommodated various requests from us and suppliers and they set the venue up so beautifully for the day. Every single person we met at the venue / from the Barworks group - regardless of position and seniority - was courteous, professional, helpful, flexible and also fun. These guys genuinely care about what they do and it was a real pleasure working with every single one of you.
Venue/decor - the venue itself is beautiful and full of character. You can see this for yourself if you visit. Upstairs is full of beautiful plants and greenery, which means you need minimal flowers to pull everything together. The lighting in the venue is beautiful and it photographs very nicely. Also important for us: this is a real, working local gastropub and cocktail bar. They do weddings beautifully, but they don't only do weddings and you don't get that "wedding factory" feel that I noticed with other wedding venues.
Cocktails/drinks: Cocktails were expertly mixed and added a sense of fun to the occasion. They went down a treat with our guests. We love the 5cc cocktail bars (we've been to a few of them) - they are great cocktail venues and their high standards carried through during the wedding night, despite heavy demands on the drinks in the evening!
Value: We felt that everything was great value. Some of the wedding venues we looked at, both in and outside London, felt like a rip-off. With the Singer Tavern, we felt we had honest pricing that meant we could give our guests a great time without breaking the bank and most importantly, without feeling like we were paying "wedding prices" for things.
