The Chester Grosvenor

We have just returned from a few days at the Grosvenor in Chester to attend my son's wedding. We had a fantastic stay and the wedding held in the hotel was beautiful. From driving up to the hotel and having the car parked by the staff to the car being returned, everything was seamless. After meeting the resident general manager to check on a few last minute changes, we were totally confident, in the hotel and it's staff. The hotel is a beautiful mixture of character charm to modern sophistication. The wedding ceremony was held in one of the function rooms and this was tastefully decorated to suit the occasion. The ceremony was followed by drinks and pictures taken within the hotel, mainly on the very impressive staircase. We then moved to the front of the hotel where we had hired an old fashioned bus to take some of the guests on a scenic route to the nearby cathedral, the rest of us walked the 600m. At the cathedral we were greeted by a champagne reception with canapés, which kept us entertained while pictures were taken in the cathedral and in the beautiful gardens. We returned to the hotel for the wedding breakfast. The food was exceptional and my son was very specific about the requirements as he is a chef. The food was very well presented and the service was very prompt and attentive with bread being continually served and the glasses regularly topped up. You also have the one stop package, with the hotel being able to offer food, photographer etc etc but also being able to tailor the event to suit your specific requirements. Oh and talking about tailors, the Moss Bros shop is just over the road.

We recently stayed for 2 nights at The Grosvenor Hotel, Chester where we held our wedding ceremony, breakfast and evening party. It really was a truly amazing experience from start to finish with all of the staff throughout the hotel being so friendly, helpful and always ready to do whatever they could to make our time with them special: the standard of service really was quite exceptional. Tracey Wilkinson is the Grosvenor Hotel Wedding Planner. We worked with Tracey in the months leading up to the wedding and she was truly fantastic. Tracey went into all of the fine detail ensuring everything that needed to be covered was. From helping us to select the correct suites to use for each part of the day, the room decorations, lighting, tables layout and crucially all the timings and the event schedule for the whole day. Will Gater was our MC for the wedding and throughout the day he too was superb in ensuring that everything was correctly organised and ready in all the rooms from the ceremony to the drinks receptions to the wedding breakfast and the evening party. He then managed to get everybody into the correct rooms on time and organised all of the staff through the wedding breakfast ensuring that the service was well presented and importantly just as you would expect from such a great hotel: Will ensured that it all went to plan leaving nothing to chance. We must also comment about the general quality of the service from the staff throughout the wedding breakfast ensuring that all of our guests were well looked after. Everybody commented on the superb quality of all the meals and the exceptional plate presentations. There is no question we will be returning to The Grosvenor Hotel each year for our anniversary.

The day was just wonderful. The Chester Grosvenor took care of everything so the day ran flawlessly. We only had 6 months between setting the date and getting married. I had an idea of what I wanted and just went with it. When we went to look around The Chester Grosvenor, they showed us a plan of how the day could be it was basically my perfect day even down to the horse and carriage.

I really wanted to write a review to let every one know how fantastic this place really is. My daughter had her wedding here on Sunday 8th May 2016, and everything was perfect. That accommodation, the staff, the service, just everything was wonderful. To be honest we started off with the wedding planning service which was great, so helpful and very un-intrusive. They are so helpful but never pushy. The day came, everyone seemed to know what was happening and when. The rooms looked spectacular and most importantly my daughter had the wedding of her dreams.

We attended a friend's wedding at the hotel as evening guests. The staff had clearly gone to lots of effort to make the bride and groom's special day amazing. The mini portions of fish and chips and burgers were lovely mid evening too. Great atmosphere and fab lighting. A friend stated in one of the rooms in the hotel which was very spacious and tastefully decorated. Despite the fact that there was a wedding going on, there was no excessive noise heard whilst in the room which was good.

Me and my wife recently had our wedding ceremony and celebrations at The Chester Grosvenor and we can easily say it was faultless. Due to family circumstances we approached the venue only around six weeks prior to our proposed wedding date. The meetings and events manager, was superb in putting together the most perfect day for us in such as short period of time. From our first contact through to receiving regular updates right up to the wedding itself Angela was brilliant in accommodating all our wishes and making all the necessary arrangements. The day ran without a hitch. The venue is wonderful, particularly at Christmas with all the festive decorations and grand surroundings. The staff are incredible, from keeping all our guests happy to ensuring the day ran as planned without the slightest issue - we really didn't have to worry about a single thing as they were so well organised. The food was outstanding, me and my wife are big foodies and having a Michelin starred chef design the menu has a huge draw for us and they certainly didn't disappoint, our guests haven't stopped talking about the menu since! The hotel is excellent in its own right. Very classic and elegant, superb service and wonderful amenities. Checking in the day prior to the wedding was a little hectic as it was the busy Christmas period, while they could have done with slightly more staff during this period it certainly didn't dampen the experience. Harry and his front of house team were most welcoming and helpful. Overall, The Chester Grosvenor really is the perfect wedding venue.
