Thank you again for the wonderful vine you have made for my wedding. Everyone was impressed by it, especially my husband, and I\'m so thankful you contribute, in such a kind and professional way, to let me feel as I wish to feel in this intense and wonderful day. x
Everyone commented on my Llewellyn Headdress and my flower girls beautiful garland. Thank you for naming my headdress after me; this made me well up as the whole experience with you in your beautiful shop was so amazing. Everyone commented on both of our accessories and my veil and they all now know to come to Gillian in Teddington when they get married! Thank you so much!
We had such a fantastic day. I felt like a real princess all day and absolutely love the hair vine you made for me... I'm just sad I can't wear it everyday!
Thank you so much for everything that you have done in the past 3 months on my sister's wedding dress and beautiful head piece- It has been an amazing journey.... we loved every moment spent in your divinely stylish studio....your advice, expertise and elegance made my sister like an angel from above on her wedding day....!! lots of love Layla xxx
I completely adored my veil and didn’t want to take it off so kept it on right the way through to the first dance. Everyone said how stunning the veil was and it was the exact ‘look’ I wanted on the day….My mum burst into tears when I gave her the brooch you made using the fabric from my dress and veil – a true treasure and I know she appreciated it so much. Thank you!
Once I communicated my dream, I knew I was in fantastic hands and you, Gillian, exceeded my expectations in every way.
You fitted into the overall look your beautiful jewellery pieces in every way, without actually seeing my dress beforehand. You kept my Mum and I laughing and smiling every step of the way. You gave me lots of options for hair vines and provided a wide selection of silk veils. Seeing the great detail that has gone into the unique pieces, at that moment, I knew I had the best jewellery in the world. It was an incredibly emotional day and this small act of support meant the world to me. I have nothing but kind thoughts for you.
Unfortunately, the worst experience of the entire wedding planning process was dealing with Gillian Million and that's including arranging a wedding during the peak of Covid!
I purchased a dress from the boutique - having been told on the phone it was a new, untouched gown (Eliza Jane Howell, Violetta in size 12 - and please bear in mind, I was totally naive buying a wedding dress and was heavily reliant on the advice of the shop owner). Once told about the dress, I booked a day off work (key worker and so you can imagine that was difficult to arrange at short notice), drove the 5 hour trip to the boutique to arrive to a gown that looked to be altered? Bra cups had been inserted? Confused, I questioned this and was told it had just had cups inserted but no further alterations. A few holes here and there were also spotted, I was advised these would be easily fixed. Okay. Tried it on - was rather a larger fit but told I could easily tailor this to fit, convinced by the shop owner's advice, I took it home.
Slightly doubtful of the purchase on the way home, I took the dress straight out of the bag to find offcuts from another bride's dress! Sewing needles everywhere!!! And the dress was a size 14!!!! Panicking, I immediately contacted Gillian who called me the next day to assure me she had an incredible seamstress who could tend to the dress but not for a few months. Again, doubtful of this advice, I took the dress to an incredibly experienced and fantastic seamstress who straight away spotted that the dress had indeed been altered, likely worn (as there were marks to indicate this), and not only that - she saw that one sleeve was slightly shorter than the other, turns out there was a rip in the back of the sleeve that has been fixed (terribly may I add - didn't spot this during try on as why would I look? Having been told it was unaltered!!) She advised me the holes were not easily fixable due to the nature of the fabric, it would be noticeable if repaired, again contradicting the advice from Gillian.
Flagging the dress again with the shop owner, she advised I could return free of charge with postal costs covered. This again was a nightmare as the shop owner provided the wrong postcode!!!! Which meant sitting on the phone to Royal Mail to ensure it would be posted to the correct address, thankfully they were amazing in ensuring this would happen when I advised the team member of the total cock up Gillian had made!
I contacted Gillian a couple of times to ensure this would all be sorted and she was so reluctant to speak with me, and when she did - she was not bothered in the slightest - in the end there was no offer of an apology. Postal costs were covered but other costs were lost, including a day's wage, fuel costs and materials to package a wedding dress - things you wouldn't mind had the process run smoothly or an apology offered for the total inconvenience.
Brides; this was purely my experience but I suggest you take this review into consideration and be very mindful. The dress I ended up purchasing was the Eliza Jane Howell Annie (as the Violetta is now discontinued) from Lace and Co Wakefield - whom I could not recommend highly enough.
