Jade & James | Clock Barn Wedding
Clock Barn was the beautiful countryside setting for Jade and James' wedding day back in July last year. Despite a drizzly start to the day, the weather held out to give the happy couple the laid back, outdoorsy vibe they were hoping for, and Clock Barn and it's enchanting gardens set the scene perfectly.
Why did you choose Clock Barn as your venue?
As soon as we turned onto the long country lane that led up to the Barn we both knew we would be booking Clock Barn that day! The Barn felt warm and cosy which is exactly what we wanted. We also wanted a venue where we could enjoy being outside and the grounds here were absolutely beautiful.
Jade decided to make use of bright and varied flowers to add some colour to the barn. She chose rustic, wild flowers and whispy grasses to sit in milk jugs and crates on the tables in the barn, and had pops of colour in her bouquet such as Crocosmia (or Coppertips), Sandersonia and Amaranth. Her favourite flower was the Miss Piggy Rose - not least because of its name!
Together with her mum, Jade added lost of personalised touches to the barn including a variety of tea light holders her mum had collected, a personalised post box, and they even put together their own candy cart! Jade's Stepdad carved the table numbers from stumps of wood, and the mother and daughter duo created the special table plan with rustic flowers. Some serious DIY triumphs!
Tell us about your dress, shoes and accessories:
My dress was a Ronald Joyce dress from Wedded Bliss in Dibden Purlieu, Hampshire. I was trying on a few dresses and spotted it hanging in the back room. It had just arrived and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it! Its long beaded back necklace and gold shimmer made it different from the rest and it was absolutely beautiful.
My shoes were from Irregular Choice, they were amazing! I had a crystal headband which I added some flower pieces to for my hair. The only other item of jewellery were my diamond earrings. I didn’t want to ‘over do’ it with jewellery.
James also looks decidedly dapper in his Ted Baker suit, whilst Jade's three bridesmaids donned beautiful dresses from Coast, in her favourite colour, green.
Luckily the weather allowed the happy couple and their guests to enjoy an outdoors drinks reception, accompanied by lawn games. The canapés sounded delicious; mini beef burgers and pickles, smoked salmon blini, thai chicken with a sweet chilli glaze & crispy risotto balls. For drinks they had white peach sangria and plenty of beer!
What did you eat for the rest of the day?
We had the Smoked Bacon Scotch Egg to start, the Fillet of beef, Dauphinoise potatoes & green peppercorn sauce for mains and the Glazed lemon tart with raspberry coulis for dessert – we still get compliments today on the food! It was delicious.
In the evening we ordered the Whole spit roasted pig with crackling. It was set up outside of the main barn and it was a beautiful evening, it was lovely to see our guests sitting outside enjoying themselves.
Jade and James soundtracked their day with a specially made playlist of all their favourite songs, followed by a DJ to get the party going in the evening. The also opted for the ever amusing photo booth by Gigglebooth, which added some fun to the reception!
After cutting their beautiful three tiered cake (lemon sponge, chocolate fugdge and traditional fruitcake) made my Jade's mum, the pair danced their first dance to Ho Hey by the Lumineers.
What was your favourite moment of the day?
Walking with James into the back field just after the ceremony and realising we were officially married and everything was perfect! The build up to the big day can be stressful and overwhelming at times but in that moment it was all so worth it!
What advice would you give to couples still planning their big day?
Enjoy every moment, it goes by so quickly! Invest in a good photographer and Florist.
