James Hey Piano

We would highly recommend James. He is an excellent pianist and is professional, easy going and very talented. He was willing to learn any music if it hadn't been on his playlist for us. It was a pleasure to have him be a part of our wedding day and making it so special .

What can I say about James?
Since booking him to be our wedding DJ at the beginning of the year, James has been amazing. The support and advice and information he provided was endless - this guy knows his stuff! James, having worked in the wedding industry for years now, gave me advice on plenty of wedding areas - not just music related. James is a genuinely helpful person and he was invaluable to us!

On the night he was a gem. He arrived nice and early to get unpacked. His set-up is very impressive and looks very smart/professional. He played exactly what my guests asked for (ranging from Beatles to heavy metal!) and was charming with every single one of them. James also did us an enormous favour on the night in getting up and drumming with our band for a couple of songs (without practice!) which just adds another string to his bow. James' services don't just stop at being a 'top dee-jayuh' - he plays the piano beautifully. I've heard him play many times and even have one of his CDs in my car.  This guys talent shows no end and I would truly recommend him to anyone (and everyone).

James is fantastic. We met him and heard him play at the Woodman Inn and we just knew that we had to book him for our wedding day. He is really approachable, friendly and went out of his way to personalise our wedding music. Our wedding guests loved him - we got married 3 months ago and people are still commenting on how good the music was! James´s mixture of friendliness and professionalism was perfect and we felt like he was part of the celebrations. We cannot recommend him enough.

Words can not express how amazing James Hey was at our wedding hosted at Oulton Hall, 14.10.16. James was extremely helpful in our selection of music, making sure we had the right songs for our wedding. He was easy to work with and very professional. Overall, it was a great experience and we were delighted he played on our special day.

James played on our wedding day recently and everybody thought it was such a lovely touch to the day! He played through the arrival of the guests to walking down the aisle, signing the register and back up the aisle. James played a grand piano for our drinks reception on 22/10/16. We discussed the types of music we wanted prior to the wedding day and he played modern music with a classical feel. James got our guests involved and even had some singing along! We would highly recommend James!

James is an absolute must to make your big day extra special. He is very accommodating and easy going and reads the audience extremely well. His piano skills are very impressive and his DJ set was brilliant too. He just blends into the background; he is not your typical DJ that talks over every song. A great guy and an icing on the cake of your special day!

So glad we chose James Hey for our wedding reception. Had great feedback from our guests. The measure of a good DJ is a busy dance floor and the dance floor was busy throughout the entire evening! On a personal level we found James a pleasure to communicate with. He was extremely helpful and offered some fantastic ideas which we had never considered. He never pushed a sale and he was always at hand for questions and replied promptly. I would highly recommend him.

James played at our wedding and the music he provided was just fabulous. It was so nice to have lovely background music like that and all our guests gave great feedback. Worth the money! James was flexible with regard to our song choices and was happy to play a selection so it was good to be able to leave the thinking to him in this situation. James will also play any songs you choose and I believe will learn any he doesn't know. Excellent service.

James played at our wedding, during the ceremony and the reception drinks, and what a wonderful job he did. We were so lucky to come across James after a few Internet searches and as soon as we listened to just one or two tracks on his site, and we knew we wanted to try to book him for our special day. His repertoire is huge and we felt confident he would be able to play anything we requested. This was in fact the case. It was no problem at all and he was happy to send us a snippet of a recording he did.

On the day he played perfectly. The ceremony songs we chose sounded beautiful and the songs he played at the reception drinks the same. On the day so many of our guests asked us about him and it was evident that the music really was enjoyed by all. James kindly gave us a CD and I have had it on repeat in my car since the wedding which was two weeks ago! James is such a friendly guy who clearly has a lot of passion for providing beautiful music on special occasions.

James played at our wedding ceremony and reception & was a huge hit with all who attended -a real highlight of our day. Several guests, including army band musicians, commented on the quality of his playing and it set the mood of the day up brilliantly.

From first contact through to the day itself, James provided an excellent service. He guided us through our music choices when we were struggling and was willing and able to play perfectly the few tunes we asked for that weren't part of his normal playlist. He replied to all our queries promptly and filled us with confidence.

In particular, James was incredibly helpful in accompanying two young nieces singing a medley of songs, seamlessly linking them and helping the girls perform to their best. We'd highly recommend James with no hesitation whatsoever - top musician and a top guy too.

James offers a great service. Right from the point of meeting at his house over a cup of tea to discuss our requirements and preferences in music. This was very straight forward due to James' music knowledge. He also provided us with a list of suggested songs that could be played on the piano during the drinks reception. We and our guests loved his piano playing during the drinks reception. The music selection for the evening was excellent, which was a mixture of our requests, guest requests and James' feelings on what would get people moving on the night. Thanks again James. When I first met James last July I walked into the Woodman Inn Kirkburton in Huddersfield for a wedding venue. James was playing the Piano, me and my partner Gary were amazed at the beautiful music he was playing, so much it sent goose bumps down my arms. We knew there and then that we wanted James to play at our wedding last Friday 1st May 2015. James is a true professional and such a lovely genuine bloke. We hadn't even considered piano music for our wedding until we went to a wedding faire where James was playing at 315 in Lepton last year. As we wondered round we both had goose bumps whilst listening to his beautiful playing. We booked him the following day to play during our ceremony and throughout our wedding breakfast. James welcomed us into his home before the big day where we met his beautiful daughter and he played our chosen songs so that we could be sure before the day itself.

When the big day arrived James played effortlessly; our song choices during the ceremony sounded magical and every time we hear them it takes us back to that special moment. His stunning yet subtle playing during the wedding breakfast added the special ambience that we wanted and so many of our guests commented on 'the piano man'.

Originally James was referred to us by a mutual contact as a potential pianist for our wedding day in January 2015. We then went on to listen to some of his music on soundcloud. From that moment it was clear James' music was very unique and super special. James does not just play, he interprets and puts his own spin on the music. Out of the 3 pianists we had originally short-listed there was literally no comparison, James was heads and shoulders above the rest.

Not only is James a super pianist he is a true gentleman and a pleasure to do business with. James literally made our ceremony and reception. At one stage most of the guests were gathered around the piano just listening to him play! We had so many comments and positive words of feedback to say how amazing the music was.

Can't recommend him highly enough for any type of event. Now I have to sort out another event just so we can have an excuse to hire him again!

James's service is excellent and I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone. He has a very wide selection of modern and contemporary music; all beautifully transposed for piano and keeping up with modern trends. He played Tom Odell's 'Real Love' for my fiancé to walk down the aisle followed by some Ed Sheeran for the signing of the register and then to finish off he managed to pull off Pharell's 'Happy' to walk back up the aisle!

James's kit is professional but mobile and he was then able to move into the bar area to entertain our guests during the drinks reception. Everyone enjoyed his playing and I had a number of very positive comments from guests.

If anyone is looking for a modern pianist for their wedding or other function, I'd highly recommend James. It's worth going to listen to him play at The Spiced Pear in Hepworth where he plays their baby grand piano regularly. My fiancé and I went to listen to meet with him there before our wedding and as soon as we heard James play, we were sold.
