Designer Wedding Dresses: Alan Hannah's 2018 Collection

As we all know, it can often feel endless the number of beautiful wedding gowns out there to choose from. So when we come across a collection such as Alan Hannah's and learn the stories behind how the collection's pieces come to be, it turns the dress from a beautiful piece of clothing into a walking story - something that we for one, love.

When the head designer Marguerite came to create this collection, it was at a time when her daughter was studying for her art A-levels. With her focus being on watercolours and the artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the house was constantly filled with images of this for reference. Inspired, Marguerite decided to channel this beautiful form of art into her latest collection that is painstakingly curated in their London workshop.

Marguerite took inspiration from the beautiful watercolour scenes by channeling the idea of water and movement into the dress through the style of cut and the use of soft silk satins and silk chiffons. Prempting the return of girlier details for 2018, the collection feature both sophisticated structured silhouettes and full skirted dresses. Along with this, there is beautiful embellishments including subtle and natural freshwater pearls and floral motifs. Finally, the collection explores more unstructured crepe and soft satin dresses that feature eye catching details such as soft asymmetric panels along with the return of bows and frills on sleeves and skirts.

Scroll down to see some of our favourites and how the collection channels this inspiration.

This dress has the classic pretty look nailed. Whilst remaining fairly simple when it comes to embellishments, the cut and addition of the bow at the lower back are the stars of the show.
